This little surprise comes courtesy of Charles Tyson, FAUG member, who posted it in a notice in the PeopleLink AmigaZone Club tonight. It can be done by ANYONE with an Amiga and 1.2... no special talents or abilities required (but having long fingers or a third hand will help). Most everyone is aware of the "secret little messages" found in some Amiga system software (such as the "RJ LOVES CARYN" found in the ASCII code buried in Preferences 1.0)... So, do this: Hold down BOTH [shift] keys and BOTH [alt] keys at the same time. Yes, hold down ALL FOUR KEYS TOGETHER. Now, if your fingers can reach them (or get a friend to help, or hold a pencil between your teeth), while holding down all four of those keys hit each Function Key, F1 through F10, one at a time. On your Workbench Screen menu bar you will see the names of all the Amiga development team!! Far out, eh? Make sure you're on the Workbench screen and that the menu bar is not obscured, and give it a try! Charles also mentioned something about the Preferences screen having some hidden goodies in it too, but he didn't have any details on that (yet). I like this little parlor trick (having an ambidextrous nose and three thumbs, I was able to pull it off unassisted). Since I believe in giving credit where credit is due, here, for the benefit of those out there with only two hands, is the list of credits for the Amiga (from the five finger trick): System software: Carl, Neil, Kodiak Graphics Software: Dale, Bart, Jim, =RJ= QA: Jon, Bruce, Stan, Kim & Jerry LG Support: Caryn, Dave, Victor, Terry, Cheryl & Nancy CBM software: Andy, Barry, Dave & Eric Pics: Sheryl & Jack Docs: Rick, Mitch, Peggy & Rob Chips: Jay, Akio, Glenn, Edwin, Mark, Dave HW: Dave, Bill, ChrisR & Josh Moral Support: Joe Pillow & the Dancing Fools There are some questions left unanswered. Can anyone out there repost this list of credits *with* last names? The only ones I know are Neil Katin, Dale Luck, RJ Mical, Andy Finkel, Rob Peck and Jay Miner (and I don't think I spelled them right anyway). Also, what is "LG Support" ? What happens when you type control-middle-mouse-button-right-shift-meta- alt-F4-cokebottle? And finally, the burning question: who is/are Joe Pillow & the Dancing Fools, and when are they going on tour? :-) Doug Merritt ucbvax!ingres!hatcher (thru Jun 28) or ucbvax!unisoft!certes!doug

Better yet .... get RJ or DUCK to tell the story at a BADGE or FAUG meeting. Hans

There is another "back door" into the Amiga - I believe it is at the system level, not Preferences (although there could be one in Preferences also). No, I don't know what/where it is. As far as the story of Joe Pillow (funny, I was just thinking of Joe last Sunday on the [crowded] airplane from Phoenix), get BOTH Dale Luck and RJ Mical together to tell the story. And Andy's right ... get a beer. Ask RJ how he debugged his mouse-reading routine in Defender of the Crown... ..Bob -- Bob Page, U of Lowell CS Dept. page@ulowell.{uucp,edu,csnet}

for LG Support, Nancy is Nancy Rains. For Pic, Jack is Jack Haeger (remember the pictures on the OLD RKM manuals?). -- Marco
