A throwaway comment by me in a prior article on another subject has elicited
a small groundswell of requests that I post my low resolution IFF Bard's Tale
maps. I made them for my own pleasure, but if there are a few more requests,
and no objections of merit, I'll post them to comp.binaries.amiga when I'm
done. I have 11 of 18 done (for those who haven't been there, level 4 of
Mangar's tower really needs two maps, for a deliberately obscured reason),
and the rest will be done in a few days.
I hope doc can get his mailer problems with the binaries group fixed up; I have
now gotten down to having about one in three of my replies to articles or even
email successfully reach the sender. I'm pretty disgusted with the whole
sendmail process, and with USENet. I guess when you run a net with unpaid
help, you get what you pay for, but the mail system is a disgraceful shambles
right now, and doc has all my sympathies. I don't have the time or the
inclination to learn enough about sendmail and mailing lists to make up for
the inadequacies of the net software, and I suspect I'm not alone, so mail
will probably fumble along pretty badly for a while until one of the young
turks takes bit in teeth and hauls the whole mess back straight. I'm not
holding my breath.
Meanwhile, I haven't been able, so far as I can tell, to reach successfully any
of the folks who asked for my maps, so I'll keep working on them, and wait for
indications as to whether enough folks want to see them to make a posting
worthwhile (I tend to get apopletic trying to make the mail work, so I don't
think I'll try mailing them out in any case.)
Sigh. I've had better days. Keep the Amigas churning! ;-)
