Approaching a month on my SE here at work, I love the new (extended) keyboard. I think it's much nicer than the Mac+ keyboard and even a bit better than my Amiga's at home. I find the transition between the Amiga and the Mac fairly painless now. The layouts are more identical (less so with the non-extended version). Granted, keyboards evoke almost as religious a response as with editors. I do find audible and tactile feedback subtle but definite (many people I know, well, three or so, find the IBM keyboard too loud). I'm not a touch typist -- more of a multi-finger hunt & peck, but our resident real typist also likes the new keyboard -- especially as compared to the Mac+'s. I wouldn't doubt that she could find another keyboard preferable. Over all, I'd say the new keyboard is a definite goodie. > ... Thumbs up on the mouse. Ditto. The Teflon (or whatever) pads are very nice, as well as the compact size. Again, this is closer to what me Amiga has (the Teflon pads in particular) though I do develop a numbness in my entire hand when I use my Amiga mouse in long continuous periods as when playing games. I'm not sure if it's the mouse's size, angle or what. Taking a brief break every minute or so seems to alleviate this problem. I'm glad that at least in this modest way it's easier to use the Mac and the Amiga relatively painlessly. Flip side, joe piazza --- Cogito ergo equus sum. CS Dept.
