Someone had posted a message asking if Facc handled floppy disk formatting correctly. It appeared as though the format verification was being done from memory (a cache hit) and not from the disk itself. At that time I responded that the format verification was in fact being performed correctly (the data being checked was in fact coming from the floppy). This was evidenced by the fact that the number of read hits did NOT go up for the drive being formatted. Still, the fact remained that formatting with Facc running DOES go faster than without Facc running. I had a chance to look into this and with help from CATS (Carolyn Scheppner), this is what we've found: 1. Format verification IS working properly. The data IS coming from the floppy. 2. Due to a subtle change in interprocess timing that Facc introduces, the verification reads are in fact running faster. 3. No problems whatsoever should result from this. With tongue firmly in cheek: See! Facc IS a floppy accelerator! Perry S. Kivolowitz

Perry, Thank you for your quick response to what I thought was a problem. And thank you for Facc! Hans
