[comp.sys.amiga] Piracy vs. copy protection

[]
For those honest users out there who have been inconvenienced by
copy protection, but won't pirate, there's an ideal solution: buy a
legit copy of the copy-protected program you want, but *also* obtain an
unprotected version from your local informal software source, when
possible. Then you've paid for what you get, and also gotten what you
should have had when you bought it: a program that can be backed up,
mounted on your hard disk, etc., along with the manuals and user support
that goes with a legal purchase. Everybody's happy, and everyone gets a
fair deal.

But you've also subverted the free market, in that the vendor hasn't
been sent a message saying that you dislike the product in that form.
Pirating a copy might be a better idea in that case, but it's illegal.
Doing without (if possible) is probably best.
