[Here's mud in your eye, line eater.] This is an open invitation. I am in charge of organizing a computer hardware and software exhibition hall for a series of symposiums being sponsored by a multidisiplinary group at Texas A&M University whose primary purpose is the study of cognitive science. This group, called CSCS, is composed of disciplines ranging from engineering to psychology. The purpose of the exhibit hall during the symposiums is to give hardware/software developers a chance to demonstrate their products to a large group of scientist in one spot. There is no restriction to the type of hardware/software, although products aimed specifically at research in cognitive science will probably draw the most attention from those in attendance. I _DO NOT_ want to discourage mainline hardware/software products from participating, though. The scientists at these meetings are usually very budget minded when it comes to their research and are almost always pleased when their 'research' computer can also handle their word processing, spreadsheet, and database needs. This is an excellent opportunity for the amiga to open up yet another avenue into the academic market. The amiga is almost custom designed for the type of research being done in this area with its advanced graphics and sound (well, kinda advanced sound). Applications like paint programs, and sound and video digitizers should also do quite well with this group. Other areas of interest are hardisks, memory expansion, and networking. Harddisks tend to be a necessity for this type of research since many experiments require real time access to large amounts of data during an experiment. For similar reasons, lots of memory is also a strong consideration for the research done in this area. As far as networking goes, it is considered to be a big plus if the computer can support ethernet(tm), etc. And, of course, as you might expect, peecee compatiblity is considered a plus but not absolutely necessary. As you can see, the areas of interest are practically unlimited, so come on Amigoids, let's put on a show for these folks. The exact date for the 1st symposium is still uncertain, but will probably occur in late September of early October.
