I wrote a letter to Woods about this but I thought I'd share my sentiments with the net. I think the net is a wonderful opportunity to view other people's diverse and conflicting interests. It is (as we all know) a very unique forum. Splitting up the music group is only going to lower the quality of this forum. There are many articles that I "n" past, but I like to have that choice. I like to be exposed to as many viewpoints as possible. If we split, people are going to be even further immersed in their own little musical world. I'm not saying that everyone should like all kinds of music, but everyone should at least understand it! (How can one make a value judgment without understanding the object/concept being judged?) I think that I can honestly say that I can find at least one thing I like in *ANY* kind of music I hear. But this does not alter the fact that I hate disco and country. The fact that I can find some good points in both genres means that I at least have a meager understanding of those forms. This I think can be the real value of the net. Why not read an article on Bach? Why not read an article on punk music, or anything else? Don't split up the group and sectorize further our already narrow knowledge. Let's try and be more aware of issues going on around us. Flames expected, but unfeared because.... From the asbestos keyboard of, Tom Twiss ...!ihnp4!stolaf!twiss

Net.music should definitely be split. I, too, would like a little "efficiency" even in my recreational pursuits. The Grey Mouser -- Reachable as ....allegra![rayssd,rlgvax]!ccieng5!jbf Or just address to 'native of the night' and trust in the forces of evil.
