[comp.sys.amiga] Transformer???

hansb@ariel.unm.edu (Richard Harris PSYCHOLOGY) (07/30/87)

I have heard RUMORS... that there is a NEW transformer out that will:

let you use EXPANDED memory.
run more programs.
might allow color??
etc...

the current version of transformer can be patched to 1.2,
but there are a few bugs...

It DOES run pc-forth 83 ULTRA-FAST....
It almost runs Turbo C... if you load up "TC" from the turboC disk,
and compile link execute a small program, it runs out of memory.
(turbo C requires at least 384k to run, and the transformer gives
you 373 or 371k.) you CAN link separately, but that ruins most
of the fun of turbo C....

oh yes..the transformer is slow. it is about half the speed of the pc,
(which is twice the speed of the c64....) but it does run most
software out there, and you really do not need a 5 1/4 disk drive
to run the software.(I have one though.) you can copy the software from
the ibm 5 1/4 disk drive to the 3 1/2, or you can pop in the 3 1/2
from the new pc portables.

by the way, could somebody send me the code that lets me use
720k on the 3 1/2 disk drives? I have some code that goes in the
config.sys file (drivparm=.....etc) and it currently works with
dos 3.2, but 3.3 does not recognize it as a valid command.

well, have fun out there...
