While perusing over the new issue of Amazing Computing (damn good magazine) I came across some info that I found interesting, and left me with many questions. Most of these pertain to Aegis Video Titler program. 1) Aegis said they have registered a new animation IFF called ANIM. Is this an official IFF format now?? How about the color fonts IFF? 2) Most enthusiasticly, I read that Aegis will be using "new fonts" which the article says are vector fonts. (not exactly new, but for the Amiga...) Is CBM adopting vector fonts for future Amiga use? (A step in the right direction -- my opinion) Or will be receiving a mixture of both? Or is Aegis the only one?? 3) And what I think I found the most interesting, was the mention of some "new" IFF format that preserves the background, and saves the text as text, so altering/erasing text, does not effect the background. Is this a real IFF, or an Aegis-specific toy??? If this is truly a new IFF, it can have a profound effect on the desktop publishing and word-processing worlds of the Amiga. It is indeed a new IFF structure. There are several new IFF docs up on bix now. These include the new ANIM formats. And there is discussion regarding several addenda to that ANIM spec. Suggest finding it out ASAP if you're in a position to need them. (True BIX ain't cheap. But it's the quickest way to knowledge. These docs are not in the amiga.com commercial developers only area. Hence any BIX user can access them. Unless you've paid your commercial developer's fee this is the fastest (and perhaps only) way to get these new docs. (Unless someone downloads them and distributes them. I don't think Carolyn'd mind but ask her first. THey're also kinda long.) <@_@> jdow@bix UUCP: {cbosgd, hplabs!hp-sdd, ihnp4}!crash!gryphon!pnet02!jdow INET: jdow@pnet02.CTS.COM
