[comp.sys.amiga] Close Call follow-up

Thanks for all of the replies to my "Close Call" report on the
problem I had with a Supra 20MB hard disk. I agree that it
was probably the disk validator at work.

As a follow-up: the validation occurred again a couple of times
the next morning. I called Supra, and they suggested that I
reformat the disk. It took several hours to back everything up,
reformat, and restore the contents of the disk. Make that many
hours (like 6 or 7). It seemed to have fixed the problem, but
over the course of the past few weeks it's gone through the
validation dance a couple of times, fortunately, with much less
stress on my part. I'm beginning to think it has more to do
with my disk being near full rather than anything I might have
done to the disk, since I believe it's occurred only when the
disk was over 95% full. That's not a very scientific observation,
however.

I may decide to have this unit swapped out for a new one, if the
problem persists. If so, I'll post the results.

Thanks again,

Phil Mercurio
