I recently installed the 512k memory hack in my A1000, thus
bringing it up to 1meg. I followed the article in Amazing
Computing and had very little trouble. It did take a little
thinking on my part since my machine doesn't agree with the
schematic in the article (two signals in the select logic are
reversed).
I then patched my kickstart disk (as described in a letter in
Amazing) so that it doesn't look for the second 512k at power-up.
That way it doesn't think it's got 1meg of chip ram.
Here's the question: has anybody come up with a kickstart patch
that will make the system configure the second 512k as pseudo-fast
ram? I'd prefer not to have to continue using addmem, so that I
can use rrd again.
