[comp.sys.amiga] Postscript summary

gbs@utgpu.UUCP (09/22/87)

a while back I posted a request for information/opinions about packages
that supported postscript output, I got a couple dozen letters in reply,
unfortunatly only two were not - please send me / post a summary notes.
Of the two that contained information, one asked me not to say anything,
so I am left with one posting to summerize (can that be done?). to
save myself the effort :-) I'll just post, unedited, the letter I got.

here goes ...

City Desk, a desktop publishing program by MicroSearch/SunRize Industries,
handles PostScript laser printers quite well. It does not use the printer
driver at all (for laser printers.... it does for dot matrix of course).
It supports PostScript and HP LaserJet+ compatible laser printers, and all
Preferences printers. List price is $150 (+/- $1 or so), but I've seen mail
order under $100.

I must confess a certain biased opinion, as I'm a co-author of it. :-)
Unlike PageSetter, the laser printer capability is built in (no extra modules
to buy). I'm a programmer, not a salesman, so I won't try a hard sell, but I
do like it.

City Desk is being marketed by MicroSearch.... call them at (713)988-2818.
Sorry, but I don't have the mailing address handy. You might also find it in
your local store (if they don't have it, ask them to order it!). Or look in
the most recent AmigaWorld, there's an ad in there.

Anyway, I don't want to get TOO commercial over the net... :-) If you have
any questions, feel free to contact me (or call MicroSearch).

Disclaimer: JPL has nothing to do with this. They just hired me after I
graduated. Although I worked for SunRize Industries (and still do part-time),
I don't officially represent them (or JPL), and my opinions are my own.

[calling him might be hard, I did edit his phone number out (so I lied)
didn't know if he wanted the whole world to have it..]
