[net.general] Kongsberg's message issued on EUNET on January 5. 1984

birger@kvvax4.UUCP (01/02/70)

To all of you who saw the message sent by esa@kvvax4 concerning
Interactive Systems Corporation's products as delivered by BTM,
Belgium. The IS/3 version referred to in the message was a
prerelease of the system. This was wholly understood by KV at
the time of installing. The company was also aware that
receiving a prerelease of such a package is quite another thing
from getting an official release installed. We specifically
requested the prerelease since the full release was not available
and were prepared to take the consequences.

The frustration reflected by the technician in the news message
was a personal point of view (which is not unusual on a news net
of this kind) and it doesn't by any means constitute a company
viewpoint. Assessing the quality of a product and BTM as a
supplier based on a prerelease of IS/3 would be unfair. KV have
no experience with the commercial version of IS/3, therefore are
not in any position to comment on it. KV have several
Interactive's products installed and have, for example, high
opinions of their INed screen editor, which we have on the
machine running IS workbench for VMS and on two machines running
4.1bsd. KV and BTM are at the present time considering a closer
co-operation and we are prepared to place new orders at BTM and
Interactive Systems Corporation in the near future. Our
intention is definitely to continue the good relationship with
BTM.
