[comp.sys.amiga] VCR query

I'm shopping for a VHS VCR that I can use with my Amiga (to do videos
and such). I have a few questions that I'm sure some comp.sys.amiga
people have better answers to than most dealers and such, so here it goes...

- What's the difference between "broadcast stereo" and "Hi-Fi stereo"? Well,
I guess the latter is better, but can I do stereo recordings on the former?
Will both give me stereo sound when connected to my stereo system?
- I've been looking at 4-head VCRs, and they claim "freeze frame" capability.
Does this mean the signal video can be captured by DigiView and digitized?
- Will a 4-head VCR be good enough to paste together short pieces of
animations (3-5 seconds, like generated by VideoScape) without any
problems? (I guess it's not good enough for single frame recording, huh?)
- I've looked at three Toshiba models recently (hmm, models 7600, 4500, and
5900, I think). All had 4 heads, but the cheapest (mono) was $274, the next
(broadcast stereo) was $350, and the most expensive (HiFi stereo) was $450.
Now, the $450 model also had a button in the front labelled "Audio DUB."
Does that mean it can record the audio track seperately than the video
track? (So you can piece together a movie and later record a soundtrack?)
Or can all VCRs do this? Seems like you need this sort of capability if you
want to paste together a video and want it to have a decent soundtrack.
- Finally, I have no TV and plan on using the VCR with the A1080. Is there
  any problems with this?

I'll appreciate any answers and any stories concerning using VCRs with the
Amiga. (And please send me email if you can, as I don't want to start any sort
of VCR wars... 8-) )

Gosh, sounds more like VCR questions than Amiga questions. Is there
a "rec.TV" string? :-)

Seriously, I'd mail if I could, but I can't, so:

I've used my 1080 with a VCR with very good luck. In fact, after you
get your VCR, you will then have a TV, whether you wanted one or not!
(This happened to a friend of mine a few years ago -- confirmed audiofile
-- then got into recording digital audio on a vcr -- then had to get
a TV to check out the vcr -- now a confirmed videofile. Be Careful! :-)
