You may remember my problems with what seemed to be disk drive alignment about 2 months ago. Well it wasn't the drives, it was some garbage disks. After much pounding of my head against a brick wall I finally proved to myself that it wasn't the drive alignment. I figured that it couldn't possibly be the disks, but just for laughs I dug out some old Sonys, and cleaned them off so I could format them. The results were: Any Sony formatted in any drive could be read in any drive. 9 of the 50 disks from MEI/Micro Center (they look like BASF) could not be read in a drive that they were not formatted in. I have since run another 40 DS/DD Sonys through my machine without any trouble at all. After all the grief this caused me, I'm sticking with DS/DD Sonys. Single sides and generics aren't worth the 20-30 cents I've saved! As for those &^#@%$ BASF disks... -- Blaine Gardner @ Evans & Sutherland 540 Arapeen Drive, SLC, Utah 84108 UUCP Address: {ihnp4,ucbvax,decvax,allegra}!decwrl!esunix!blgardne {ihnp4,seismo}!utah-cs!esunix!blgardne "I don't see no points on your ears boy, but you sound like a Vulcan!"
