Well, well I guess Delta Research still exists. After 2 long months of absolutely no response from them I finally to my amazement got my JFORTH. No I never actually was able to get past their answering machine, so I'm not sure why I got it. Well was the patience worth it. From a brief glance yes. The packaging isn't as Professional as Multi-Forth's hard bound binder but I personally find it easier thumbing through a 8-1/2 x 11 typed manual than single paging through 6 x 8 type set pages inside a bulky binder. I was previously under the impression that JFORTH wasn't as expanded as Multi-Forth, but that is far from the truth. It is fully expanded beyond the standard Amiga library interfacing and includes things like easy window and menu creating tools so that you don't have to dive into C manuals and the RKM. It even includes a utility to aid in converting C source code to FORTH source code. The only thing that disappointed me is that I thought they would have created the optimizing target compiler by now or that I would get something new. Instead I only received a February 86 v1.2 software; must be working very hard on v1.3. Wilson Cheung

I also have been trying to get in touch with the folks at Delta Research. There is a thead going on in amiga/general on pnet01 about some beta tests of JForth's optimizing compiler done by the Delta Reasearh folks on some source code by Bill Kelly that you will find on the JForth Demo disk for v1.2. The ham paint program (about 8K of source), when run through the optimizing compiler produces a standalone program 11K in size. The large group of demos (about 150K running ) go down to about 60K in size. Seems pretty impressive! Can't wait till its released.
