I'm posting this message for a friend who doesn't have access to the net: ---------------------- I'm interested in adding a 68881 to my Amiga 1000. I can't afford the 68020/68881 combination (e.g., as offered by CSA), so I'm looking for a way to add the 68881 internally or externally, with or without a 68010 (if necessary). The only product I have seen advertised is the StarBoard II w/ multifunction module (you supply your own 68881), but I really don't want to pay for more than I need. Any information about other products that are available, or peoples' experiences with the StarBoard would be greatly appreciated (e.g., cost, compatibility, software (does the board come with replacement run time libraries and work with compilers (I have Aztec 3.4, which supports the 68881 )). Just how much faster does the 68000 and 68881 combination run (ie: without a 68020) when running both normal programs and math intensive ones? Current prices (look in the back of BYTE) for single 68881s seem on the order of $150 US. I hope it is possible to add one for <$400. (????) Thanks in advance. I'll have a summary posted if there is interest. R.
