Yes, that's right, the sources and binaries groups are back in business. Just what you always wanted, right? There are now three people co-moderating the comp.{sources,binaries}.amiga groups. We are: Matthew Bradburn (afb@s.cc.purdue.edu) Pat White (ain@k.cc.purdue.edu) Brent Woods (ahh@s.cc.purdue.edu) Submission or mail can be sent to any one of us, but we would prefer that they be sent to the appropriate mail aliases (amiga-binaries-request@ j.cc.purdue.edu, or amiga-sources-request@j.cc.purdue.edu, or simply posted to the moderated groups); this simplifies our joint bookkeeping. The Amiga archives still exist, and we are in the process of getting control of them now--we will let you all know when they are settled. Any submissions that are sent to us now *will* be archived when we get control of the archives. Since there are more than one of us, and because of all the talk on comp.sys.amiga, we have decided upon a few policy changes here: 1) We *will* send out an acknowledgment of receipt so you know we got your submission. 2) We will also *try* and test everything before sending it out-- we will attempt to run every binary program and compile every source. If we find any errors, we will be in touch with you. If there are known bugs, please include a list of them with your submission (it will be posted with the submission) so we don't spend time sending mail about bugs you know about and want it posted regardless. 3) If any directions are required for use or installation, include them. When we test the submissions, we will be pretending to be complete novices, so if there is some ambiguity, you'll hear from us about it. Also, if it needs to be done, and it's not in the directions, we'll probably not do it. For sources, makefiles (a la Manx) are the best way to go, and for binaries, directions about how to run it and use it are very useful. For testing purposes, we'll be booting vanilla V1.2 so if your program needs something different (eg: bigger stack, pipe device, V1.1, etc.) you *must* tell us. 4) If you have any questions reguarding your submission, our mailers are always open. 5) We will be assuming a "standard machine" is an A1000 with 512K, one floppy drive, and version 1.2 of Kickstart and Workbench. If your submission requires *anything* else, please include a message saying so. Otherwise, we'll be testing your program with this assumption in mind, and you will (fairly rapidly) receive a message about it. If you submitted anything, and didn't get a reply, then it probably went to Doc and might have been deleted by junkmail. If so, then please re-submit it. Currently, we have 3 submissions that will be going out soon. From your co-moderators, ------------- Matthew Bradburn (afb@s.cc.purdue.edu) Pat White (ain@k.cc.purdue.edu) Brent Woods (ahh@s.cc.purdue.edu)
