[comp.sys.amiga] How do I connect A1000 to Diablo 630 RO printer via serial port

cjs@oberlin.UUCP (chris seline) (11/06/87)

I can not get my Diablo 630 RO to print with my A1000. I'm afraid I don't
know much about hardware. I have a cable with pins 1-8, 10-13, and 17-25.
The pins don't switch around. i.e. pin 1 at one end goes to pin 1 on the other
end. How do I rewire this cable so I can print? Using this cable I can not
even get garbage from the printer.

The normal mods for converting a standard IBM parallel printer cable to
an A1000 printer cable are:

-----
(at the computer end)

    Cut 23, 25
Cut 16 and move to 25
If Epson type, cut 14 (or you'll get forced extra linefeeds)

Then add sex changer.
-----

A2000 and A500 can use standard IBM type cable without mods.
