To prevent clogging my reader with too many people telling me that I can't do anything on the Amiga without any manuals, I think that I should tell you that this is not the case. I have the RKM, Intuition, DOS, hardware, . . . . manuals from Commodore with the exception of the Technical Reference Manual. The problem is this: There are two ways of tackling MINIX on the Amiga. The first is to build a MINIX "shell" that simulates the hardware functions using Kickstart routines. The second is to treat the Amiga as a 68000 box that has a MINIX kickstart. (ie. rebuild from scratch) Commodore manuals are great for the first option, but they don't have nearly enough information for the second option. Why even consider starting from "scratch?" Simply as an educational exercise. Let's face it, that is the whole purpose of MINIX. It certainly isn't a production system. Anyways, thanx to those of you who wrote to me offering your suggestions. If nothing else, they have served to convince me that the best way to go is to use the kickstart routines. I am still open to further suggestions and/or comments. If anyone else out there is interested in doing this port, I might be open to some sort of collaboration. Thanx, JP
