I have a question to ask people on the net who have used quotations from USENET in their papers: What is the proper way to reference such quotes? A complete reference in the manner of a typical book or journal article seems wrong, since readers of my paper would not be able to track the USENET article down in the same way as a book or journal article could be. On the other hand, listing the quotation as coming from a "personal communication" seems wrong also, since a USENET article is scarcely the same thing as a note directed just to me from its author. I would appreciate hearing other people's solutions to this problem. Please send responses to me via mail (personal communication), and I will summarize the results for later USENET publication.
