Hello world, I've been keeping archives of comp.sys.amiga and the mod.*.amiga groups online here, on two disks accessable via CSNEWS (BITNET file/names/bulletin server). I also have been redistributing and archiving the comp.sys.amiga stuff for BITNET. The archives are accessable from CSNEWS via interactive BITNET messages: Send CSNEWS@MAINE a "SENDME fn ft FROM AMIGA", or "SENDME fn ft FROM AMIGA_CODE". To get a directory listing, send a "DIR FROM AMIGA" or "DIR FROM AMIGA_CODE". The only problem with the archive disks is that they are small and expensive for me to keep. Currently I have 7 CYL of 3380 disk space. Disk space here costs $2.50/cyl/month. I would love to increase the disk to 20 or 25 CYL and keep archives online longer but I haven't got the green stuff for that. Currently I keep comp.sys.amiga online for only a week or two until they go off to tape (where I have archives of the past 2 years). The mod.*.amiga gets rotated whenever something interesting comes along (there are currently 129 files on the AMIGA_CODE disk, but its quite full now and I will be deleting things right after this mail goes out). If anyone is interested in putting up some $ for archives I will be glad to have the disk extended and keep everything online. Send whatever you think it is worth to you to have online amiga archives to: Steve Goldsmith University of Maine Computer Science Department Neville Hall Orono, Maine 04473
