[comp.sys.amiga] How to send text to SER: from CON:

Rejoice! I just got a brand-new A500, after months of being Amigaless (my old
A1000 was stolen a day before the insurance went into effect, and I panicked
and reported it right away. Ouch.).

Anyway, I want to be able to turn of my Hayes-compatible modem's default
auto-answer mode from the CLI (its a $77 mail-order with no DIP switches, so I
can't change the default. I've tried "copy * to SER:", but after I type
"ATS0=0", I press <cr> and the auto-answer LED doesn't go out. Then, to make
matters worse, when I press ^\ (end-of-file), the copy command just keeps on
reading. None of ^C, ^D, ^E, and ^F break me out of it; the CLI just sits
there, promptless, until the end of the session or reboot, whichever comes
first.

Ideally, I'd just need a little program that sends a string command line
argument to SER: so I could put it in my startup-sequence. Any of you happy
hackers out ther willing to put up a little piece like that? I promise it'll
all come out in the wash as I get it together on hacking my new Amy. Thanks
much!
