I recently posted an article on my experiences with Abel Hardware Supply. Here's the next chapter: In the November issue of AmigaWorld, Go Amiga has an ad claiming (in big red letters): WE WILL NOT BE UNDERSOLD I got tired of waiting for over 2 months for my Starboard from Abel which I was supposed to have in 2 days, so I called Go Amiga. Here is a paraphrased excerpt from my phone conversation: Me: Do you have the Starboard in stock? (I learned *something* from my exp. with Abel) GA: Yes we do, and we could have it to you in 2 days. (Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!) Me: Well, I see in your ad in AmigaWorld magazine that you guys will not be undersold, and Abel Hardware Supply is selling Starboard for $459.00 GA: Let's see if we can match that ... (pause for a few minutes) GA: The best we can do is $499.00 for the Starboard. Me: $499.00? But it says in your add that you will not be undersold! GA: Uh, well, uh, ... that must be an old issue of AmigaWorld. Me: No it's not, it's the November issue. GA: Uh, well, uh, sorry, but we can't match that price, Abel has some special deal (blah, blah, blah) Me: Yeah, but you guys SAY you WON'T BE UNDERSOLD. let me talk to manager, etc, etc. Well, of course, the manager wasn't in (is he ever??), so I ranged and raved for awhile, gotell, of course the manager wasn't in (is he ever??), so I ranted and raved for awhile, got nowhere, and finally gave up. Give me a break, this is ridiculous. Is there an honest vendor out there? I'd be willing to pay extra $$ at this point for an HONEST vendor that can REALLY deliver a product in ***2 DAYS*** --- sheesh!!! /*************************************************************************************/ * Still singing the 512K blues - I'm David, I just use Archies login... * /*************************************************************************************/

If you're looking for 2 Megabytes for your A1000, might I suggest looking at the 2Meg board from Micron Technologies? It's a Zorro II memory board that you can buy with an adaptor for your A1000. Then, if you ever get an A2000 or an A2000 style expansion box for your A1000, you can use the memory board again! I believe it can be had for less than $450 complete - ask around (if you can't find it locally, try Family Computers in Fairfield, NJ). Eric Oh yea - the Micron board comes with diagnostics and recoverable ram disk software.
