<insert clever line-eater joke here> Could people "in the know" please e-mail me information about creating device drivers. I have looked through Lee Erickson's demo device driver as well as Scott Turner's SCSI device driver. There are enough similarities that I was able to learn a lot from them, but also some differences that confused me. I would prefer to find a "How to create your own device driver" type document somewhere (maybe I just haven't looked hard enough), but even bits and scraps would be helpful. I will summarize (probably in the form of my own driver,) when I know enough. Thanks in advance. ______________________________________________ | | | Patrick Doyle wpd@ATHENA.MIT.EDU | | ...{decvax,ihnp4}!mit-eddie!mit-athena!wpd | |____________________________________________|

Does anyone know of a source of information about the hardware interface for the disk drives which goes into more detail then the hardware reference manual? I'd like to write a small custom operating system for my amiga, but I'm having a problem getting my driver for the disk to work. I'm more interested in how to use the drive, and less interested in the details of the hardware. If worst comes to worst, I'll disassemble the device driver that comes with the Amiga, but I'd rather not. Commodore, if I became a registered developer, would it be possible for me to get source code to the device driver for the disks? If anyone has source for a disk driver, I'd love to look at it. +------------------------------------+---------------------------------------+ | Michael Wolf | An old Scandinavian quote: | | BITNET: wolf@ucscj.BITNET | "You can lead a herring to water, | | ARPA: wolf@ssyx.ucsc.edu | but you have to walk real fast, | | UUCP: ...ucbvax!ucscc!ssyx!wolf | or else he'll die." | +------------------------------------+---------------------------------------+
