Hmmm... perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I am not CIS. I do not set prices for connect time. I do not reap millions of dollars profit from my activities on CIS. In fact my only benefit (other than the satisfaction derived from helping people with Amiga problems), that I derive from said activities is that I do not pay connect time while on CIS. Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining, but on the other hand, I do not feel that I deserve flames because of my willingness to put in long hours in pursuit of the advancement of the Amiga. In fact, the Amigaforum on CIS reaches more Amiga owners, and would-be Amiga owners than any other commercial network, and up until recently, when van-bc offered public access at a reasonable rate, I could just plain not afford the expense of a connection to Usenet. As for questions, that's why I'm there. I don't use Zoo, I am not allowed to post Zoo on CIS, and as a result I seldom use Zoo. Tell me why I should answer questions about a program that is restricted in such an arbitrary manner. If I were to follow my gut reaction, which I won't, I would simply tell everyone that Zoo is not worth the flux changes required to keep a copy of it. >I wasn't aware of this. How amusing. What a sense of humor. What a sense >of what is "right". Ha ha. What I find amusing is that someone has decided that more than $9.00/hr at 1200 baud (I believe that's the actual figure mentioned in the distribution notice) is "too much", while networks that charge less are "ok". That is, of course, the author's privilege, but I would point out that not everyone has access to networks like Usenet. Even if they did, the cost could well be more than what CIS charges, depending on how much you are charged by the machine you access through. I would also point out that the files on the Amigaforum are all clumped in one place, easily accessible to even novice users, far more easily than they are here. Nobody is forcing you or anyone else to use CIS, and if you feel that they charge too much, that is your prerogative. There are over 10,000 people on the Amigaforum who would disagree with you, and I would appreciate it if you did not flame me because of your feelings about the connect time charges levied by CIS. I feel that I must apologize to the net for posting this in public, but I have yet to get a piece of mail through to anyone outside vnet. On CIS I could simply note an ID number and do it in email, and do it at less cost. -- The transistor is a curiosity, and will never amount to much. -- Mr. Stringer, Basic Electronic Instructor, RCAF, 1962. +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | // Larry Phillips UUCP: lphillips@lpami.van-bc.UUCP | | \X/ or: {ihnp4!alberta!ubc-vision,uunet}!van-bc!lpami!lphillips | | COMPUSERVE: 76703,4322 | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+
