So, with this recent flurry of interest in uw, I dusted off the copies of the uw stuff that Michael McInerny posted to the net in June, FTPed the Unix UW sources from louie.udel.edu, compiled them here on Andrew (a networked computing environment using Sun-2's, Sun-3's and IBM RT's -- what fun compiling a program for every machine you might use it on) and decided to give it a whirl. Upon running the uw client on the Amiga, my mouse pointer stopped dead in its tracks. I then watched all chip memory in the machine disappear on my menu-bar clock. When it got to zero, the machine gave me the guru. Next, I tried running NoFastMem followed by uw, and it worked. It seems that the uw client can't deal with expanded memory (1.5 meg, Squeeze-RAM memory board, located at $C000000). Does anybody else have this problem? Has there been an update to the uw client? --M -- Michael Portuesi / Carnegie Mellon University ARPA/UUCP: mp1u+@andrew.cmu.edu BITNET: rainwalker@drycas "little things remind me of you...cheap cologne and that damn song too!" --The Flirts, "Jukebox"
