Both Jim Berry (uucp::arizona,decvax,hao:!noao!stsci!berry) and Mark Thompson (decvax!savax!thompson) mentoned in seperate articles that they had trouble getting Movie to work. You might want to check and see what version of Movie you are using. I have Mavie 1.1 which I downloaded from PeopleLink about a month ago, and it is supposed to have fixed some problems with 1.0. (Although I understood the problem to be with IFF pictures that used an odd number of bitplanes, so I don't know why the problem with HAM images). I have successfully creted a 40 frame 320x200 HAM animation called 'Going in Circles' using Movie 1.1 and didn't have a single problem on a 1 meg a2000. The new version I downloaded had 2 new files that helped generate the dilbm and the pilbm files. Everything went very smooth, and I am proud of my first attempt at animating a human figure (Amiguy) using Sculpt-3D and Movie. While I am at it, I would like to mention I have uploaded several object files to PeopleLink (2 hotair balloons, a sailboard, a hangglider and Amiguy) as well as images showing off these objects. I have also sent these objects to Fred Fish (actually sent them twice now, I hope they show up soon on his disks) and to Cathryn Graham for inclusion in her Ray Tracing Newsletter. I hope those of you using Sculpt-3D get a chance to see these objects and let me know what you think. I hope this encourages more people to share their objects and animations, I just love HAM ray-traced animations! Marvin Landis (mlandis@NMSU.edu)
