[comp.sys.amiga] Number Crunching --> HELP!

LAUL@UREGINA1.BITNET (Dennis Robert Gorrie) (12/24/87)

A while back I sent a message in a bottle, asking for help concerning the
apparent lack of Numerical Analysis (sp?) software for the Amiga. I was
most interested in finding a program than would assimilate lab-data,
plot it, linearize it, and do various curve fitting functions like a
least-squares line and percent error. I have not found such a program,
but I did get a few good suggestions. One was Doug's Math Aquarium, by
Seven Seas Software (206-385-3771). The other I discovered in AmigaWorld
magazine (Dec 1987), a new program called """Descartes!""" by
Mindware International (Barrie, Ontario, Canada, (705-737-5998)). I
have not been able to phone either companies, so I was wondering, has
ANYONE out there tried these programs?
    Also, another positive response suggested the book """Numerical Recipies""
by Princeton Press. I also have a friend who just took a numerical methods
course where this book was used as one of the texts, and he says the book was
very helpful.

Respond direct.
