[comp.sys.amiga] Serial port, Amiga 1000 specs

[go ahead, make my day]

My A1000 serial port was disabled by a self-destruction modem this summer (it
transmits, but doesn't receive). I figured it *had* to be a blown 8520, but
after swapping the 8520's inside, my Amiga worked the same as before.

Q: what other peices/parts are candidate's for replacement?

(I ordered a set of A1000 schematics from CATS in August, but am still waiting
by the mailbox)

Any ideas would be appreciated, as life w/o downloading is a drag.

Failure to receive is most likely due to a blown 1489A EIA receiver chip.
This is U6L, located just being the right rear corner of the RAM/ROM tower.

These can be had at your local Radio Shack...
