However, the Date and Lasterr are not included. I am sure that when we loose BCPL, and all the Amiga programs are written in Assembler, and we finally get documentation on writting your own CLIs all this stuff will be generally available. Now however most of this stuff is controlled by the CLI. The one thing that I have been thinking of doing is getting the source to the ARP cd command and making it change the console windows title. The rest of the stuff you mention really would require something like matt's shell. Course I could always make the cd command change the CLI prompt like I have here on my Sun machine. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Randy Spencer P.O. Bill Hawes (of conman and ARexx fame) has a new shell coming out in February. Completely CLI compatible, plus aliases, ARexx support, pipes (if you're running conman), resident commands (he checksums the commands) and a very versatile prompt. I've been testing it; one of the options I have enabled is to display current dir in the title bar. Another option that I don't use is to display the return code in the prompt. There are a number of other prompt options. Right now the shell has no built-in commands. Bill is thinking about putting in commands like IF and the usual script commands, since they're small and would make scripts run MUCH faster. I don't make any money from Bill, etc... ..Bob -- Bob Page, U of Lowell CS Dept. page@ulowell.edu ulowell!page "I've never liked reality all that much, but I haven't found a better solution." --Dave Haynie, Commodore-Amiga

I go the CD arc file that came over comp.binaries, but alas, it doesn't work with the 1.0 version of ConMan, and I will NOT give up ConMan. Anyone told Bill Hawes about this inCONpatibility? Sure would love to have both...Again, maybe we can get the source to ARPs 'cd' command and use that... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Randy Spencer P.O. PIPE: is a completely > seperate device... If you look in the documentation for Conman, it has a PIPE: handler built into it. No need to install a separate executable on the disk. Also it uses true (unnamed - no flames on this) pipes which the new Shell handles automagically. I kind of like not having to keep up with yet another handler. -- |_o_o|\\ John A.
