According to the June 1982 issue of `Insight', a rag published by digital to advertise new products, `Digital Unveils a New Generation...Three Series of Personal Computers.' The Rainbow 100 is a floppy-based CP/M system with two (unspecified) uprocessors. It is claimed to run both 8 and 16-bit CP/M software `designed to run on eitherZ80- or 8088-based systems.' So the processors are probably z80 and 8088. The DECmate II is an office management system which `provides comprehensive executive management, word processing, and accounting features at your fingertips.' It is menu driven and has a calendar, telephone directory, and can communicate with systems running DEC's WPS-8 software. The Professional series uses 11/23 and 11/24 (there are two models, the 325 and the 350). The o.s., called P/OS, is based on RSX-11M. It has a 5 meg winchester, bit-mapped video, and supports communication with VAX/VMS, RSX-11M, M+, or any other Professional series computer. There's a tool kit that has junk like RMS, FMS, sort, and graphics subroutines. There are also `language compilers that run on RSX- or VAX/VMS-based systems.' John Eldridge harpo!floyd!jce
