Hi
I'm somewhat surprised that no one have commented on the
rumours in ``POPULAR COMPUTING WEEKLY'' Dec. 10-16 '87 on
the new Amiga computers.
According to the magazine "C= is to launch a new range of
Amiga computers next (this) year".
A quick overview:
- "A500 will be upgraded to 1Mb", this ``new'' machine
will be unveiled at the West German Hanover Fair, March 16-23.
- The A2000 will be upgraded to an A2010, with the following
highlights:
* The processor speed will be 14Mhz, still a 68000.
* "A new blitter chip capable of addressing 4Mb of
video RAM" with "improved screen resolution" and
"a maximum colour palette of 256 out of a total
of over 6M colours".
The 6M colours sound stange, maybe 16M.
* "A new Denise chip as well, but no details".
* "A new version of the boot-up system Kickstart 1.3".
And finally a new A3000 is mentioned, highlights are:
- "28MHz 68030".
- "a new 19 inch colour monitor".
Prices are only mentioned for the A3000, $3000. Accoring to the
magazine the A3000 could be delayed a year, due to shortage of
the 68030 chip.
PS: if all this is ancient history I apologize to have wasted
your time.
In Denmark we speak Danish, this might explain an error or two.
end.
