[comp.sys.amiga] Duplicate messages

page@ulowell.cs.ulowell.edu (Bob Page) (01/08/88)

It appears site 'hpubvwa' is sending out duplicate messages all over
the net. They are stripping domain info from the message-id, so
<nnnn@host.site.edu> becomes <nnnn@host>. The news system thinks
these are new messages, so you get to read them again.

Just so you know.

It always does seem to happen, doesn't it, that when we get a nice
couple of weeks of slow news traffic over holidays, that a site
somewhere decides (usually by accident, of course :-) that it has to
make up for it by redistributing everything once again... My poor
disks never get a break... :-)

I know... wrong group! :-)
