[comp.sys.amiga] Problem with A2000 power supply

mjw@F.GP.CS.CMU.EDU (Michael Witbrock) (01/16/88)

I just got my A2000 (after MONTHS of waiting) and it doesn't go.

After the first 24 hours or so of running, I found it with its power led off.
When I toggled the power switch (after waiting the requisite 30s) the led
flashed on breifly, then off again. It continued to do this on subsequent
trials.

When I tried again about a day later, the machine worked again. It ran for
about 24 more hours, then died.

It is currently exhibiting the flashing power supply led symptom.

Since the local repair people say they are inexperienced with 2000s, I would
appreciate a hint about what may be causing the problem.

BTW. My machine says it was made in taiwan ("R.O.C"). A country with no good
reputation for making reliable hardware, and with a reputation for
exploitative labour practices. Am I a victim of careless cost cutting?
