Lately, there has been much discussion about splitting comp.sys.amiga. I agree with the very first suggestion - that we split into 2 groups, one of which is a technical group for tech. questions about the Amiga. I have also seen suggestions for a split into multiple groups, and a suggestion that we use keywords instead. I say lets go ahead and split into two groups as was originally suggested. I don't think that using keywords is a feasible alternative. It sounds like a good idea, but the problem is this: few people use keywords to begin with. If we went to a keyword-solution, we would *always* have a certain percentage of people who would: 1) Not understand the keywords, and not use them. 2) Understand the keywords, but not use them anyway. 3) Forget to use the keywords. 4) Use the wrong keywords. I don't believe keywords would be a good solution. I am also very tired of seeing articles about how-call-waiting-works-on-my-phone, why-pirating-is-immoral, why-shareware-is-a-great(or evil)-thing, etc, etc, etc. Yeah, I know I can "Just Hit 'n' Now", but if I post a question about how to do this-or-that on the Amiga, in 2 days it gets overrun by a hundred or so articles, a good percentage of which have *nothing* to do with the Amiga specifically, and my question just gets lost in the crowd, and I get very few answers. Please, let's just split the group, and not spend months discussing how and/or why we'll do it. I think a split would be good for everyone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ "...We keep gettin' richer, ~ ~ but we can't get our picture ~ ~ on the cover of the Rolling Stone..." ~ ~ ~ ~ Dr. Hook ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -- *********************************************************** * David Geary, Boeing Aerospace Co., Seattle, WA * * (206)773-5249. --I disclaim everything I've ever said--* ***********************************************************
