[comp.sys.amiga] Why not put 1MB chips on mother board?

crash@tsc3b21.UUCP (Frank (crash) Edwards) (02/05/88)

Why not put 1MB chips on the Amiga mother board? It *appears* that
the necessary address lines are there; is it because the hardware
graphics/address decoding would be quadruple-mapping the addresses
(meaning the same RAM would appear at every 512K multiple within
the 2M address space [16-bit, of course])?

Otherwise, it would be quite simple and cheap to just replace the
RAM on the mother board! How about it?
