Has anyone had any experience with Alan Kent's HdDriver hard disk driver software? It is a driver program that interfaces to the Western Digital WD-1002-05 controller card. It is public domain and can be found on Fish disk #98. I am planning to make it work on a Western Digital WX-1 controller. The idea is to get a hard drive for a very reasonable price (I have seen an ad in Byte for one of these cards with 10 meg hard drive for $149; add the cost of a power supply and the few chips and connectors needed and the total cost should be slightly more than $200). Summary: 1. Has anyone used Alan's HdDriver? 2. Has anyone modified it to work with another controller card? 3. Is there other public domain software out there to control an IBM hard drive? 4. Has anyone modified his code from Manx to Lattice? 5. Is anyone else interested in making Alan's package work on other controller cards? 6. If there is enough interest, I'll submit Alan's program to the Purdue archive. Thanks for the answers to my queries! Rob Frohne uucp: {ihnp4, hplabs}!pur-ee!frohne
