I subscribed by phone to the Transactor Magazine last Dec. to get the $7.50 deal. I have read on the net several articles refering to this magazine. My problem is I have not received any issues yet. Does anybody know if I should be getting these yet? If anybody has received a copy in the mail let me know and I will give the mag. a call. If not, I guess I will wait a little longer. I originally asked if anyone has received their Transactor Magazine yet. In article <634@cresswell.quintus.UUCP> pds@quintus.UUCP (Peter Schachte) writes: > >Please post your replies. It seems I am not alone in this (which is good since I doubt if they would have misplaced too many people). I received 3 replies (counting the included reply) from people in the same boat as me. I also got 2 from people who have just received their issues (one who lives in Canada). It seems that they are just now starting to ship so I don't think it will be much longer (at least I don't think they misplaced my order which was my big worry). I think I will give them until the end of this week before I pay for another phone call. Thanks to those who took the time to reply. Transactor Magazine had cashed my check, but no mag had arrived in my mailbox yet. Because of the reports that people were reading these already, I was getting itchy yesterday as I walked home, wondering when I would get to read the magazine. Well, lo and behold, it had come that day and was sitting on the table just waiting to be read. I therefore assume that the other magazines are in the mail. My guess as to why they are so late is the Canadian mail system. Having lived in Montreal several years ago, I have had some experience with slow mail (and mail strikes) in Canada (well, at least in Quebec), so it really doesn't surprise me that it took awhile for the magazine to reach my house. Maybe there is a different reason...the above is only a guess. Anyhow, I must say that I enjoyed the first issue. There were many interesting articles; I especialy enjoyed the one on CAOS by Andy Finkel. If only it had been implemented, there wouldn't be so much grief switching between UNIX in the day and AmigaDOS at night [now, how to I move up the directory tree again...is it "cd /" or "cd .." ? ;-]. And yes, I also believe that the best programming insights come after 2:00am and lotsa pizza (a good beer will do wonders too! ;-) -Chris -- Chris Lishka /lishka@uwslh.uucp Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene <-lishka%uwslh.uucp@rsch.wisc.edu "What, me, serious? Yeah, me too! I mailed them check in Dec.'87 and I believe that it's been cashed. Well, I wonder when we get the first of our six issues for $7.50. I do think that the first subscription starts sometime in April, however. The reason I say that is because of some article that I have seen about someone having picked up an "april" issue at some recent computer show. Is that correct? I hope I am way off base, because I wanna my magz. :-{ - Naseer Khan

[Munch...Gulp! Ptui!!!] The long agonizing wait is over! (at least for me) This morning I finally received my first Transactor magazine in the mail! Haven't had time to read it yet, but it looks pretty nice. I just miss all the advertisements I'm used to seeing..... (I assume they'll show up in later issues.) Only two questions: 1) Is there any significance to it being an April issue? :-) 2) So what does a Transactor T-shirt look like, anyways? --Charles Flaig flaig@csvax.caltech.edu
