After posting my recent comments about the Palomax -MAX- package,
I received a letter from palomax informing me that they are about
to release a (free) update to their driver which will allow:
o Interrupt driven seek operations (no more jerky systems)
o Allow an interleave factor or 2 (instead of three) reducing
the time needed to read a complete track.
They also said that their driver/kit works with the new fast file
system and yields a read rate of 200kb/s and a write rate of 81kb/s.
As I said before, I'm quite happy with the package and support they
provide. Since I had an st506 drive lying around from a defunct
zenith z-100 (anyone wanna' buy the z100?), I was able to put
together a harddisk system for about $250 including the -MAX- package.
Disclaimer: I'm just a customer, etc, etc...
