[comp.sys.amiga] Multiscan Monitors on the Amiga

craig@unicus.UUCP (Craig D. Hubley) (02/23/88)

I know Byte recently reviewed Multiscan monitors. What I was wondering was
if anyone on the net could verify/debunk their quality results on Amigas ?

That is, do their recommendations hold up ? Do their `top' monitors work
well with interlace ( I recall early NECs, I think, did not). How about
with a FlickerFixer ?

And, since they've been out there for a while now, I'd appreciate hearing
how some people find them, and how they personally deal with flicker.

I have a hack, that I will post, courtesy of Earl Pottinger of Toronto ADF,
Amiga Developer's Forum, that lets you hack a Commodore 1901 into a working
high-persistence monochrome monitor, with three greyscale levels, or
unlimited if you don't mind voiding your warranty and hacking monitors.
This costs about $110 CDN, retail, for the monitor and the parts.

As to multisyncs, I personally prefer deinterlacing to high-persistence,
so I'm prepared to buy one. Since I can get NECs for about $100 less than
Sonys (Mitsubishis come in between), I'd like to hear abou the differences.

Thanks (reply by email, will summarize)
