mclek@dcatla.UUCP (Larry E. Kollar) (02/26/88)
While visiting a CBM-approved repair shop recently, I asked one of the guys, "Do you have a lot of Amiga 500s come through here?" He replied, "Lots... and lots... and lots... and lots. I was going to buy one myself, but with as many bad units as I've seen, I'm holding off." Now this did not make my day, seeing as I plan to get an A500 this summer. Hoping he's just seen a bad shipment, or everyone in the Atlanta area sending him their problems, I'm throwing myself on the wisdom of the Net. If you don't have an A500, go ahead & hit 'n' now. I'll summarize in two weeks, I promise. Larry Kollar ...!gatech!dcatla!mclek For you A500 people still with me, I'd like you to answer the following questions and MAIL replies to me. If you haven't had problems, tell me that too. Thanks millions. ------- cut here ------- 1) When did you receive your A500? 2) Have you had any problems which required a trip to the repair shop? List date(s), diagnosis, and time to repair. (Hardware experts: problems which WOULD have required a trip, had you not been a expert.) 3) (If answering yes to #2) Was the repair covered by warranty? 4) (If answering no to #3) How much did it cost to fix? 5) List here the configuration of your A500 -- amount of memory, disk drives, other peripherals, personal observations, anything else that may be of interest. 6) If you don't want your name & email address associated with this survey, I'll respect your privacy. Just let me know one way or the other. ------- cut here ------- Email replies to ...gatech!dcatla!mclek In case of bounced mail: Gatech should be reachable from most everywhere. If your system has uupath installed, you can type "uupath gatech" to get the shortest path from your system to gatech. If you don't have uupath, gatech has links to hao, mcnc, rutgers, hubcap, linus, louie, mit-eddie, seismo, ukmg, and ulysses. If after trying all that, go ahead & post your reply on comp.sys.amiga. I'll include any postings up to and including those recieved here March 10. Thanks again, Larry
