I just started reading a new book called "UNIX Communications", and it seems that "comp.sys.amiga" will live forever in the pages of UNIX history. There in the middle of this section explaining how Mail, UUCP, & USENET work, on pages 10 & 11, I found this: "For example, when Commodore's Amiga computer was introduced, a USENET conference was promptly formed to disseminate information, programs, and tips about the machine. From across the nation, hackers and would-be hackers contributed news, gossip, and advice. The creators of the Amiga in Los Gatos, California, read the articles and responded to them. As a result, bugs were speedily tracked down, and technical details (inevitably scarce when a new microcomputer is introduced) reached programmers and Amiga owners over USENET long before the details were available in printed form." In case your interested in owning a part of this history, the publisher is HOWARD SAMS & CO. - the ISBN number is "0-672-22511-5" - cost $26.95 (US). Of course I have no connection with Howard Sams or the books authors except as a customer. I do however have connections with Commodore, and USENET :-) -- Dan Schein uucp: {ihnp4|allegra|burdvax|rutgers}!cbmvax!schein Commodore AMIGA ARPANET: cbmvax!schein@uunet.uu.net 1200 Wilson Drive Bix: dschein Plink: Dan*CATS West Chester PA 19380 phone: (215) 431-9100 ext. 9542 +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ All spelling mistakes are a result of my efforts to avoid education :-) +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ I help Commodore by supporting the AMIGA.
