[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga 1000 blues

steelie@pro-charlotte.cts.com (Jim Howard) (02/27/88)

Is there any SUBSTANTIAL reason to swap my Amiga 1000 with 2.5 megs
for an Amiga 500? I have been noticing more and more companies
not supporting the 1000 with hardware that is 1000 specific. Perfect
Sound digitizer for the 500 is MUCH clearer than the version for
the 1000, the 500 can have more chip ram(hopefully) and the Fat
Agnus chip is always a plus. In addition lots of new hardware
is going to be made for the 500 and its backward data bus :-) that
just isnt going to work on the 1000. If it werent for the fact I
can use my Starboard on the 500, I would have probably already sold
the 1000. And the 2000 is out of the question, mainly because I
have 2 IBM clones sitting on my desk here.

You're might as well just go out and buy a 500 and keep your 1000 anyway.
I've been trying to unload mine for the past four months, and I can find no
takers. A1000 512K + 2M add-on + external disk drive + monitor + color dot
matrix printer + 1200 baud modem + Manx&Lattice C + Lisp + Pascal +
complete Fish Disk collection + other stuff. I've been asking $1200, would
probably take $1K, is that unreasonable? I have not gotten so much as a
nibble.

If anyone is interested, it's still on the auction block.

I've tried to send mail to John Wilkes but I have gotten no reply. I
have a friend who is VERY interested in getting an Amiga, 1000's
included. He lives in the Bay Area; he would obviously prefer to
buy from someone nearby. Anybody wanting to sell their Amiga,
especially John Wilkes, please contact me.
