I had the unfortunate experience of bouncing my 1080 monitor across the floor of the living room (don't ask, it was stupid). After which even the power-on led on the front wouldn't come on. Opened it up and checked the fuses but none were blown. I had seen an outfit called D-FIVE associates which advertised low cost Amiga repair in Amazing Computing ($29.95 for 1000 systems). After explaining my problem the guy said that it was probably the circuit board was cracked around the flyback transformer which is on the corner and not well supported for its weight. He said that if that was all that was wrong then the total repair would be only the 29.95 plus shipping and handling. Seemed like a good deal so I packed it up and shipped it off. Turns out that was the only problem and total turn around was a couple weeks, total cost was approx $6 to ship it and $39.70 (29.95 + 8.50 S&H + 1.25 Insur). I was impressed. Of course, if any parts had been broken it could have been a good deal more expensive as part cost is extra over the 29.95. Even so you might want to consider this outfit if you get in the unfortunate situation of having a broken Amiga out of warranty. They also do warranty work for that matter. Their address: D-FIVE ASSOCIATES, INC. 19 Crosby Dr. Bedford, MA 01730 (617)275-8892 I have no affiliation with this organization whatsoever except as one satisfied customer. David Albrecht
