Recently I went through all of my disks and removed the SCA virus from 40-50% of of my disks. (I'm not completely sure, but I think I got it from the first issue of AMI-News). What I want toknow now is how many other viruses there are out there waiting to chow down on my valuable bits, and what sort of code can I look for in the boot block to identify each (E.G. I looked for the "Good News..." line in the boot block of disks I suspected were infected with the SCA abominog). I generally use DISKWIK to check my disks. Is there another, better program (not virus specific) that I can use to check my disks. Is there anything else I should know? Does anyone have any idea what motivates these psychotic little bastards to creat these things? Can it be simply the compulsive desire to promote their names in infamy, or is it (as I suspect) really covert manoevers on the Atari or even (dare I even think it) IBM fronts? I think an effective deterrent might be to make a nasty example of the first of the unholy buggers that we catch. Perhaps we could castrate him to prevent his defective genes from being passed on to future generation... I'm sorry, this has degenerated from a simple request for information to a half mad, toxin induced quest for blood. I'll end now. thanks to any and all who respond helpfully. -caleb Caleb J. Howard I'm sorry, but I don't know my address at this place, but please try to respond anyway.
