I would like to point out in this discussion of "my drive's gonna go 600Kb/sec under FFS" that this comment only applies to SCSI drives and other very expensive alternatives. I am not disputing that there exists a drive and controller combination which will pump 600Kb/sec under FFS, but I am curious about the _cost_ of such an arrangement. I would love to have the money to go out and buy an 8Mb A2000 with a Fujitsu Eagle on it (450+ Mb), but I don't now and probably never will. I think a more reasonable comparison would be with the 2090 ST506 interface, the Supra and C-Ltd drives, since these are probably the most common drive configurations. It's nice to hear that the 2090 SCSI will top out at 600Mb/sec, but what about the rest of the world? I would like to see before and after numbers for all the other options as well. -ethan -- Ethan R.
