I haven't even bothered decoding V2.8, because I was not at all impressed with V2.7. I'm afraid that I expect 95% or greater emulation of VT100 features when using a terminal emulator and V2.7 fell far short of the mark. As to the backspace sending a delete ($7F) character - hooray ! That's the way it should be...the VAX/VMS loves $7F chars !! What ? You're not using VAX/VMS ? Shame on you ! Seriously, ANY VT100 terminal emulator worth its salt will have a configurable backspace/delete option... Richard K. Because you don't like a particular piece of software, ignore all updates and improvements to it. > I'm afraid that I expect 95% or greater emulation of VT100 > features when using a terminal emulator and V2.7 fell far short of the mark. In what areas? VT100 has far better emulation than much of its commercial competition -- Online! and Diga!, for example. I realize there may be better emulations out there (Handshake (freely redistributable) and A-Talk (commercial)), but I have never had any problems talking to Unix boxes, VAX/VMS, or anything else with VT100. > As to the backspace sending a delete ($7F) character - hooray ! > That's the way it should be...the VAX/VMS loves $7F chars !! VT100 has had a configurable backspace/delete option for a while now...at least it's there in 2.7. Perhaps if you inspected the software a bit more closely before dismissing it, you would have realized the fact. --M Michael Portuesi / Carnegie Mellon University ARPA/UUCP: mp1u+@andrew.cmu.edu BITNET: rainwalker@drycas "Paradise is exactly like where you are right now...only much, much better" --Laurie Anderson, "Language is a Virus"
