Since I'm not a hardware type in particular, I thought I would pass this wierdness on to someone who might figure it out long before I will. I have a 1 meg A500 with external floppy, Okidata 92 on the parallel port, Prometheus 1200 modem on the serial port. Everything works fine with this one bizarre exception: On the printer, the "Select" (on/off line) LED will not light if the modem is turned off. If I turn the modem on, it works as it should. Huh?!?!?!?!? Bruce death before disclaimer (I know I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?) <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <>Handle: Bruce Bettis USnail: University of New Orleans <> <>BITnet: <BEB@UNO.BITNET> Computer Research Center <> <>Voices: (504) 286-7067 New Orleans, La. 70148 <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Serial port pin 22 ( RI ) is logically shared with parallel port pin 13 ( PSEL ). Opening the line to pin 22 in your current rs-232 cable should do the trick too. ============================================================================= Rick Sterling COMMODORE AMIGA TEST ENGINEERING Senior Test Engineer UUCP ...{allegra,ihnp4,rutgers}!cbmvax!sterling // /_ |\/||/_ /_ PHONE 215-431-9275 \X/ / \| ||\// \ ` CALM DOWN !
