Can anyone tell me if CBM enters into VAR agreements for the Amiga? If they do, can you give me or tell me where I can get the general guidelines for qualifying to be a VAR? Since a good VAR will move more product than an average retail store, CBM would allow the VAR to buy AMIGAs at wholesale prices. The VAR agrees to only sell machines with the VARS system on it. In this way the VAR is not directly competing with normal retail outlets and is able to price the system more attractively. Obviously the price of the turnkey system needs to be greater than the retail price of a bare AMIGA or people will buy the system throw it away and keep the AMIGA. At that point, a VAR would be directly competing with retail stores. Becoming a VAR is very useful when you need to configure the machine before handing it to the customer. Anyway IBM made VAR agreements for the PC. Does CBM? I dont know. Alternately what does it take to become a retailer for the AMIGA. If it does not require a store front, then a VAR agreement is unnecessary a company could simply become a retailer instead of a VAR. -- Robert Snyder Disclaimer -- nobody claims dis, but me TRW Information Networks Division 23800 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance CA 90505 USENET: {ucbvax,ihnp4,sdcrdcf}!trwrb!trwind!robert ARPA: robert@trwind.TRW.COM Ph 213-373-9161
